Saarinen Round Dining Table and Round Side Table series

In a 1956 cover story in Time magazine, Eero Saarinen said he was designing a collection to "clear up the slum of legs in the U.S. home." Later that year, he completed his Pedestal Table and Tulip™ Chair Collection (1956) and obliterated the "slum" by creating a cast aluminum base inspired by a drop of high-viscosity liquid.

Eero Saarinen's pedestal collection includes a dining, coffee and side table.

The Knoll logo is located on the uderside of the base. A nameplate with the KnollStudio logo and the signature of Eero Saarinen is also located on the underside of the top or on the top support plate.

Construction

Tops are available in bevel-edged satin smooth laminate, and in the following veneers: natural maple, oak, ebonised oak, walnut, santos rosewood and teak.

Coated marble tops feature a transparent polyester coating to help eliminate use-associated stains.

Base is constructed from moulded, cast aluminium. White and black bases are protected with Rilsan. Paltinum base has a polyurethane coat with transparent finish.

Finishes

Tables are available in white laminate, coated marble in a wide range of colours and in the veneer above stated.

Base finish is available in black, white and platinum.

Dimensions

Oval dining tables stand 73 cm high with marble tops and 74cm high with laminate and wooden tops and range in depth from 121cm to 137cm.

Round dining tables stand 72cm high with marble tops and 73cm high with laminate and wooden tops and range in diameter from 91cm to 152cm.

Side tables
